15min Workouts for Busy Moms

September 17, 2015 |
Working out? after having your baby? seems overwhelming and how would you have the time when you have a baby to raise? 40min - 1 hr runs seem out of the question especially having to push your baby in a stroller in this hot texas weather! Here are my quick, effective, time saving, go-to full body HIIT workouts that I do. only 15-20min 5x a week.

Above is a really good and one of my top favorite 20min or less workouts from Christine Salus.  Here is her YouTube channel ==> YouTube Channel to see all her effective workouts.  She categorizes her workouts by length of time and from beginner to badass levels.  All her workouts don't require any other equipment other than your own body weight.  Her method of training is HIIT and Tabata, which in our case is super beneficial.  HIIT burns the same if not more amount of calories than running, continues to burn calories hours (up to days) after your workout, works your whole body, and saves us moms time so that we can spend more time with our babies.  She does a variety of planks, pushups, and squats, etc.   I try to do one of her 15-20min workouts 5 times a week, but 3 times a week is effective.
These are some of my fav moves:
Side Plank

Reptile Push-up

This is why I love push-ups, planks, etc.  It works just about every upper body muscle, including those in your back and abs.
Plank

side plank

Bridge

Here are some intensity variations of these moves

I also use ToneItUp videos for several reasons.  Reason one, all their videos are on the beach so it's like a relaxing few minutes to feel like you are on a beach somewhere.  The trainers Katrina and Karena try to incorporate several body groups into one movement so that the exercises are more effective in burning calories and saving time.  I find that their workouts are less intense than Christine Salus therefore burning less calories at a time but I think their movements are geared more towards "toning up" your body and muscles as opposed to burning calories.  They post a weekly schedule for your workouts so you don't have to think about it, but I do one of their workout videos 3x a week.

With these 2 YouTube Channels combined with maybe 1 extra day a week of running/walking will significantly change the way your body looks in as little as 2-3 weeks.  Oh and btw, the best part is it's FREE and you can do them in the comfort of your own home while your baby is taking a nap.  Welcome to Motherhood, Together we can be #Fit After Baby.
